Meet Caro
Hey there, I'm Caro, short for Caroline Deloof. Born and raised in Ostend, I guess you could call me a true "beach girl." My childhood was a daily adventure by the sea, and playing on the beach.
Now, I call Ghent home – a vibrant city where my creativity thrives, and I'm surrounded by kindred spirits who share my passion for creating.
My creative journey started in South America - where I travelled for 9 months in 2020. I had planned to explore many countries, but we all know what happened that year. I was obligated to stay in a small village at the coast of Ecuador and ended up living there for five months.
For me, it was a blessing in disguise. It was a time of simplicity, serenity, and living each day by listening to my guts. I noticed how “free” I felt and how important that feeling is for me. Even though I wasn’t physically free, as no one could leave or enter the village due the pandemic, I never felt more free.
La vida simple
It was then, in these specific moments, where I was completely free to choose what I wanted to do my creative journey begun. I started it by making artwork that represented my life there. My time there taught me that I could find freedom through creativity which gave me inner peace. When I returned to Belgium it was clear to me:
“I will start painting”
And that's how it all began, organically, one idea at a time. With the support of an incredible community - my unique concept was born: a fusion between art and vintage shirts. Where I translate the patterns of a colorful shirt into a one-of-kind painting. Or in other words: I turn a beloved piece filled with memories into a unique and personal piece of art.
Go with the flow
My art journey is a living and breathing entity. As I started with painting on demand, you can now purchase an original painting along with the shirt that inspired it. In addition, I’ve embarked on a jeans jacket project where I utilise fabrics based on my paintings, breathing new life into these jackets through the art of sewing.
My concept brought me some much happiness and peace in my life. What I experienced during my time in South America, a sense of liberation and boundless freedom, I've carried back home to Belgium.
Now I am on a mission to color up people’s life and spread “the Caro vibe” through my art project. This means going with the flow, la vida simple, and having ownership of our own life.
Are you ready to let me color up your life?
